Mare Sarcelle

Mare Sarcelle is an inland body of water connected to the sea through subterranean channels. It is a part of Bras D’eau National Park. It is sizable, although very shallow. A few species of fish inhabit the lake.

There is no definitive trail that accesses the lake, but it can be reached relatively easily by parking just after the football field that marks the northern end of Poste Lafayette Beach. Cross the road and head west/inland until you find the lake. It is not far and getting there should not require very much bushwhacking.
