Bras D’eau National Park – Visitor Center

One of two national parks in Mauritius, Bras D’eau National Park lies on along the eastern coast. It lies on the rocky remnants of a lava flow and was long ago a sugar mill and small village. It is now covered in forest that is home to the largest remaining population of the Mauritius Paradise Flycatcher. There are also springs, lakes, and Bras D’eau Beach.

In the immediate area there are the remnants of the sugar mill, but there are a few hiking trails in the park that are more interesting. The Visitor Center is the jumping off point for the Coq Du Bois Loop – the only official trail in the park. There are many other trails and dirt roads that crisscross the park.
